Michael Melhem at Apache

Hi, Iím originally from Sydney Australia but with the help of my employer ManageSoft, I was relocated to Frankfurt Germany in May 1999. Living and working in foreign country is definitely a rewarding and culturally enriching experience. Certainly a decision I do not regret taking.

Currently I find myself to be one of those fortunate individuals lucky enough to be working with technologies and solutions that they are actually passionate about! Its great to be in a position to be able to apply Open Source Solutions, especially those from the Apache Software Foundation in the context of large, traditionally conservative (financial) institutions.

I have been voted Apache Cocoon committer (and member of the Cocoon PMC) and am grateful to be given this opportunity to be able directly contribute to the Cocoon project. I am particularly interested in how the control flow mechanism (as introduced by Ovidiu Predescu ) can add value and power to Cocoon.

Checkout the CocoonWiki for more information and resources on Apache Cocoon. Some of my other favourite Apache projects include Apache Forrest and Apache Avalon.

Im very keen on OO design patterns and on clean but practical software design. A colleague of mine Sylvain Wallez, recently introduced me to the following quote which really resinated with me:

"Perfection is achieved not when there's nothing more to add, but when there's nothing left to remove"
