I am currently working with Yahoo! R&D, Bangalore, as an Engineering Manager, in
the area of Grid Computing, specifically, Hadoop. I have been here since Dec,
2005. Prior to that, I was working with Hewlett Packard, R&D, Bangalore, for the
period July 1997 – Nov 2005. I graduated from Birla Institute of Tech & Science (BITS),
Pilani with a B.E. in CS, in May 1997.
I joined HP right after I finished my graduation and have mostly been
in Bangalore since then except for a couple of
stints in the HP Laboratories, Palo
Alto. I worked on a couple of things at HP – Embedded
JVM [1 2], Embedded Application
Server, Wireless Services & Security for mobile users [1, 2,
3, 4], Grid Computing
[1], and,
Sensor Networks Middleware [1, 2]. Yes,
my work at HP was in the domain of Applied Research – I did a lot of design
& implementation and also wrote some papers and got some patents. By the
way, I also managed to do MS from Indian
Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore.
Thankfully, I could use some of my regular work time to do my thesis, and needed
only a 6-month break to do the MS coursework.
Now, at Yahoo!, I am having a great time working on the cool Grid
technologies, with some really smart colleagues!
The way I unwind after work is by spending time playing with and
entertaining my little daughter J.
On long weekends, I am usually out with my family in some nearby, drivable, holiday
destination. I absolutely love those outings.
