Hi There! Welcome to my home page at apache.org. My name is Marcus Crafter, and I'm involved in various projects at Apache including Cocoon, and Avalon.

I'm originally from Mount Gambier which is a small town along the south eastern coastline of Australia. For the past 5 years though, I been living and working in the bustling city of Frankfurt, in Germany.

My involvement with Apache started just over 3 years ago, when I started working in a project at the Dresdner Bank. Part of my job was to design the architecture for an internal web based portfolio management system.

The solution we built was based on Cocoon (initially 1.7.x and then 2.x), and Tomcat (3.2.x and then 3.3.x). We used Debian Linux during our development cycle and Sun Solaris in our production environments.

While developing our application, I also became involved with Avalon, essentially in the container development arena, and also starting actively organising several Cocoon Stammtisch's in the Frankfurt area.

I'm always interested in looking at new technologies, and as you can probably guess, currently I'm exploring the use of Forrest.
